Financial Adviser

Welcome to my website.  I thank you for your interest in me and the services I can provide.  As a Financial Adviser, I work with families and small businesses throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.  Using the vast resources and an array of financial products available to me, we can work together to define and track your goals for retirement or college education funding, protecting your family and business from unanticipated events, and reaching financial security.

I take a special interest in "sandwich generation" families, who, like myself, face the pressures of assisting aging parents, managing careers, and raising children.  "Managing mom's money" has become an issue in many of these families.  I can help evaluate their current financial situation and implement strategies to control risk and provide ongoing income while enhancing legacy value.

Working with small business owners, I can help devise and implement effective employee benefit programs and executive compensation packages, as well as protect the business in the event a partner or key employee passes away or becomes incapacitated.
I live in Pleasant Hill, California with my 2 children, both of whom are engaged in competitive soccer nearly year round.  I helped found and am a member of the board of our local club soccer organization.  Come out and see one of our teams play!!!

Retirement Plans for Small Businesses

With standard 401(k) plans, the amount a company's owners can contribute to their own retirement account is often restricted by how much other employees contribute to the plan. With the safe harbor option, owners may be able to make larger contributions for themselves in exchange for making tax-deductible contributions or "matches" for employees.

Diving into Dividends

Dividends have traditionally been considered a source of income, but they also can be a powerful way to help build savings. A recent study found that dividends contributed 44% of S&P 500 total returns from 1930 through September 2010. This article explains how dividends work and the role that dividends could play in an investor's savings strategy.

Doing Your Heirs a Favor

Although a will and a trust specify disposition of assets, many other details of an individual’s final wishes might be explained in a letter of instructions. This article offers some topics to consider addressing in the letter to help loved ones make decisions and take care of final arrangements.

There’s Still Time to Catch Up

Worker confidence in affording a comfortable retirement fell to a record low in 2011, but investors aged 50 and older may be able to make up for lost time by maximizing contributions to retirement plans and taking advantage of catch-up contribution limits. The accompanying chart shows the potential difference in accumulation by taking advantage of catch-up contributions.
